📟 LCD1602 16×2 Character LCD Module — Blue Backlight
The classic 16-character by 2-line alphanumeric display, HD44780-compatible and driven by four or eight parallel data lines (or just two wires with an I2C backpack). Blue background, white characters, 5 V supply — the display nearly every Arduino tutorial starts with.
✨ Key Features
- 16 columns × 2 rows of alphanumeric characters
- HD44780-compatible controller with huge library support
• 4-bit or 8-bit parallel interface
- Blue backlight with white text and adjustable contrast
• Standard 16-pin 0.1" header footprint
• Built-in character generator including Kana
- I2C-ready — add a PCF8574 backpack for two-wire control
🔬 Specifications
- Display: 16 × 2 characters, 5 × 8 dot matrix
- Controller: HD44780 equivalent
- Supply voltage: 5 V DC
- Backlight: blue LED, white characters
- Interface: 4/8-bit parallel (VSS, VDD, V0, RS, RW, E, D0–D7, A, K)
- Contrast: set via a potentiometer on V0
- Viewing area: approx. 64.5 × 16 mm
- Module size: approx. 80 × 36 mm
💡 Perfect For
- Arduino / ESP32 / Raspberry Pi status displays
• Menu systems paired with a rotary encoder
- Direct sensor readouts: temperature, voltage, distance
- Standalone projects that should not need a serial monitor
📦 Notes
A blank screen is almost always a contrast problem — wire a 10 kΩ potentiometer on V0 and turn it until the blocks darken. For I2C use you need a PCF8574 backpack, which is not part of this module.
